Kirloskar Chillers is proud to be part of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Project, a joint project of 7 countries being constructed at Cadarche, France.
ITER's objective is to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion energy for peaceful purposes. ITER is a major scientific and technological challenge of the 21' century, as well as an unprece-dented model for international research collaboration.
The seven ITER partners are China, European Union, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the USA. ITER International Organization (ITER-I0) comprises engineers and scientists from all the seven countries.
As an ITER partner, the Indian Agency, will contribute the Component Cooling Water System (CCWS), Chilled Water System (CHWS) and Heat Rejection System (HRS) to the project. ITER-India awarded the design, construction and project manage-ment to Larsen & Toubro Construction, Chennai who in turn has placed the order for the chillers, key components of the CHWS to Kirloskar Chillers Private Limited. after technically evaluating several global manufacturers.
Kirloskar Chillers has completed the design, manufac-turing, testing and supply of 8 X 1137 TR (4000 kW) water-cooled centrifugal chillers to ITER through L&T. The chillers were designed in accordance with global standards, CE marked and seismically quali-fied in accordance with the site design requirement. These are the largest chillers ever built in India with stringent specifications.
